Description

This is an announcement of an NSF-funded number theory summer program and conference to take place at UConn during August 8th-14th, 2016. There will be two events:

  • CTNT 2016 - Connecticut Summer School in Number Theory, August 8th-12th.
  • Research Conference on Elliptic Curves, Modular Forms, and related topics, August 12th-14th.

All relevant information, registration, and funding requests can be found on our website:

The Connecticut Summer School in Number Theory (CTNT) is a summer school in number theory for advanced undergraduate and beginning graduate students, to be followed by a research conference. The summer school will expose undergraduate and graduate students to important ideas in number theory. The research conference following the school is open to participants of all levels, including senior and junior faculty, and interested students. In particular, summer school students' participation in the research conference will allow them hear about recent developments in the areas of elliptic curves and modular forms.

The Summer School will feature mini-courses by Keith Conrad (UConn), Harris Daniels (Amherst), Alvaro Lozano-Robledo (UConn), John Voight (Dartmouth), Liang Xiao (UConn), Bin Zhao (UConn), and plenary lectures by David Cox (Amherst), Ila Varma (Harvard), and Amanda Folsom (Amherst), among others.

The Research Conference will feature talks in the areas of elliptic curves, modular forms, and related topics, by Nick Andersen (UIUC), Michael Griffin (Princeton), Ken Ono (Emory), and Larry Rolen (Penn State), among others.

The list of talks and abstracts at the summer school and at the research conference will be updated on the website as we confirm the rest of the speakers.

Funding from the National Science Foundation will make it possible for undergraduate and graduate students to attend the summer school and conference.
